ABOUT THE ARTIST

CASSIDY L. VARNEY

Cassidy Lynne (Pugmire) Varney is a classically trained American artist born and raised in Utah, USA. A proud graduate and “eternal student” of drawing, painting, and sculpture with the Beaux-Arts Academy, she owes her training to many mentors, including renowned artists Joseph F. Brickey and Niki J. Covington. She emulates the techniques of the Old Masters, and has enjoyed studying their works throughout the world — including Denmark, Italy, and a funded scholarship to France as the ICAA Utah 2019 “Paris Prize” recipient.

Favorite recent projects include contributions to several LDS Temple projects including the Rome, Italy Visitors Center rotunda mural, and interior artwork for the Homestead Resort in Midway, Utah. She now serves on the board of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) Utah Chapter, and paints from her home studio in northern Utah. Time not at the easel is spent at the barn with her horse, Jimmy, and on adventures with her very supportive husband, Nick.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I believe that the highest form of creative expression is that which radiates eternal truth and glorifies the living God. My work stands as a tribute to Him, and is a visual effort to capture not only the beauty and wonders of this world, but of the infinite worlds beyond.
