Commissioned Oil Portrait, "Rebecca" 2024
What does the commission process look like?
Phase 1: Consultation
Phase 2: Specifics
Phase 3: Sketches
Phase 4: Creation
Phase 5: Framing
Phase 6: Drying
Phase 7: Grand Reveal
To begin the process, we'll meet together (virtually, on the phone, or in person) to discuss your ideas for your custom piece.
If you're not sure about details yet, don't stress -- this is just the brainstorming phase, and we can entertain as many ideas as needed before we land on one you connect with.
Once we determine a general concept, we'll narrow down specifics like size, medium, complexity, and cost.

Note: This process is pressure-free! A quote does not mean a final agreement. Until work on the commission has begun, you are under no obligation to move forward.

Tight budget? If you'd like to make a commission work within a specific budget, just let me know! We can work to create something beautiful in a price range you're comfortable with.
If the piece is complex or needs more visualization, I will draw up some small sketches. These will provide a rough idea of the composition. We'll tweak the sketches until you are completely happy with the direction.

At this point, we will also discuss timeline for payment, and which methods you prefer (Cash, Check, Venmo, and PayPal accepted).
Once you are happy with the composition, size, and price, we will lock down a specific timeline for completion.
I begin work. You sit back, relax, and anticipate the grand reveal of your custom masterpiece.
When your artwork is nearing completion, I will reach out to discuss the framing and display of your artwork. Typically, I will select a few frames (at different price ranges within your budget) that I feel will compliment your piece, and you can choose which you like best.
Your piece will dry for a few weeks (usually 2-3) before transport.
From here, we will determine a handoff date that works with your schedule.

Framed and ready to hang, your custom artwork is delivered personally (or shipped), right to your door.
Congratulations! Your artwork is ready to enliven your space, and bring meaning and inspiration to your home.
